"The Elephant in the Room": Acrobatics of the Unspoken at the Chamäleon Theater
Cirque le Roux combines the morbid charm of film noir with the fascinating expressive possibilities of contemporary acrobatics
Pure rapture and breathtaking acrobatics: The new show from Cirque le Roux at the Chamäleon Theater combines the nostalgic charm of a black-and-white film with the expressive possibilities of contemporary acrobatics. Since 22.02.2022 the French artistes can be seen in the heart of Berlin.
The show "The Elephant in the Room – Der Elefant im Raum" picks up on the phenomenon of the unspoken and repressed which sometimes develops its very own dynamics. The story? At her wedding reception, Miss Betty flees from her distraught husband, a gleeful best man, two butlers stumbling around, and a lecherous suitor. A turbulent love intrigue unfolds in the ambiance of a luxurious estate – and all of it wordlessly and with dizzying acrobatics.
An award-winning company
In 2014, Lolita Costet, Grégory Arsenal, Philip Rosenberg and Yannick Thomas founded the company Cirque Le Roux in southeastern France. Since then, the four founders have won plenty of accolades with their cinematic aesthetic and high-voltage performances.
With this show, the Chamäleon Theater is setting a new high. The theater in the center of Berlin has been a real crowd puller for years. The stage in the historic ballroom in the Hackesche Höfe has become the focal point of the New Circus throughout Europe. Every season, new spectacular premieres and guest performances with celebrated companies take place here.
